A recent report from The Boston Consulting Group has delved into the most popular countries people want to live and work in.
With 366,000 participants across 197 countries the comprehensive survey has shown some surprising results, especially as far as the UK is concerned.
The top 10 countries for working and living are:
- The USA (34%)
- Germany (26%)
- Canada (24%)
- Australia (21%)
- The UK (20%)
- Spain (14%)
- France (14%)
- Switzerland (13%)
- Italy (11%)
- Japan (10%)
Changes in the results
Surprisingly, the UK has dropped from second place to fifth since 2014 which could be as a result of Brexit however the report doesn’t stipulate this. Whereas Spain and Germany have both moved up the list in recent years.
The report shows that innovation and creativity are the best ways to attract new talent, they explained: “One of the big opportunities in an interconnected world is the ability to access needed skills even when the skills don’t exist, in the required quantity, at home,” they explained.
“Companies should also consider investing in innovative recruitment solutions, including the use of algorithms to identify promising candidates on job and social media sites, as well as video interviews that apply artificial intelligence to identify the best prospective employees based on speech patterns.”
